Join Lark Keeler, a local artist and educator, in an art workshop that explores your identity as a woman/womxn and invites you to ask yourself, "Who am I?"
Learn about two acclaimed artists: Cindy Sherman, a photographer whose contemporary images have challenged the representation and identity of women in Western art history; and Rosemarie Chiarlone, a South Florida artist whose works explore the physical and psychological boundaries of human connection and gender in works on paper and hand-made books.
The art workshop comprises of an art discussion and a guided presentation on how to make your own paper accordion book, with each page devoted to an identity you bring to the world.
Broward County Library (BCL) is celebrating International Women's Day and National Women's History Month in March 2021. BCL is hosting a series of online programs that capture the spirit of these challenging times. BCL's programs will encourage women/womxn to choose to challenge business norms, health topics, creativity and community involvement.
Lark Keeler is a museum educator at NSU Art Museum and a visual arts teacher at Saint Andrew’s Lower School. Over the past 20 years she has taught visual arts in schools and museums, working with students of all ages and abilities throughout South Florida. Keeler was awarded the Florida Art Education Association’s Museum Educator of the Year in 2010 and since has participated in the National Guild for Community Arts Education Leadership Institute and the National Art Education Association’s School for Art Leaders. She has received a certification in Mindfulness Fundamentals and is a certified MindUP educator. She now serves as a board member for the Florida Alliance for Arts Education, Florida Art Education Association’s former President, Secretary for the National Caucus on the Spiritual in Art Education, and as a member of the Delray Beach Public Art Advisory Board. She hopes to inspire creativity, wellness, wonderment, and wisdom in the students she serves.
