Join us for an inspiring conversation with author Christina Soontornvat and illustrator Lauren Castillo as they share their experiences as award winning #kidlit creators. They will share all about their brand new picture book collaboration, The Ramble Shamble Children (released March 9, 2021).
Christina Soontornvat is an award-winning author, engineer, and STEM (science, technology engineering, and math) educator. Her many works for children include picture books and the "Diary of an Ice Princess" chapter book series. Her middle grade fantasy novel, "A Wish in the Dark", and "All Thirteen: The Incredible Cave Rescue of the Thai Boys’ Soccer Team" were both named 2021 Newbery Honor Books. She lives in Austin, Texas.
Lauren Castillo is the author and illustrator of the 2015 Caldecott Honor winning book, "Nana in the City", as well as "The Troublemaker" and "Melvin and the Boy". She has also illustrated several critically acclaimed picture books, including "Imagine" by Juan Felipe Herrera, "Happy Like Soccer" by Maribeth Boelts, "Twenty Yawns" by Jane Smiley, and "Yard Sale" by Eve Bunting. She currently draws and dreams in Harrisburg, PA.
