Awkward Dinner: Exploring African Spirituality. Presented by the South Florida People of Color.
The South Florida People of Color's award-winning "Awkward Dinner" provides a unique platform for individuals from diverse backgrounds to come together and explore uncomfortable topics, challenging social norms and fostering growth. Our curated and facilitated dinner experiences offer a unique opportunity to foster deep, authentic dialogue while breaking bread together over a delicious meal and refreshing drinks. The South Florida People of Color believe that sustainable change towards true inclusivity requires a personal dive into the issues at hand. Our professional facilitators are skilled in guiding discussions and creating an environment where participants can feel comfortable exploring uncomfortable topics. By introducing relevant concepts and thought-provoking questions, we encourage critical thinking and introspection.
Presented in partnership with Broward County Library's African American Research Library and Culture Center. Sponsored by the Community Foundation of Broward.
In 2015, South Florida People of Color (SFPoC) was established to address the pressing issue of equitable political representation in the town of Miami Shores. Our core vision aimed to bridge the gaps across racial, ethnic, and cultural divides, fostering a sense of community through meaningful dialogue and engaging cultural events. This collective effort has given rise to a range of initiatives that have garnered recognition and acclaim.
