A traveling exhibition curated by Dr. Rick Potts, paleoanthropologist at the National Museum of Natural History, providing a wonderful human experience -- what does it mean to be human?
Exploring Human Origins: What Does it Mean to Be Human? will be on view through August 1, 2024.
This exciting exhibition encourages a public conversation focusing on multiple perspectives of what it means to be human and fosters greater appreciation of the complexity of the science of human evolution. BCL was selected to host the exhibit through a national competition offered by the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History (NMNH) and the American Library Association (ALA).
Through panels, interactive kiosks, hands-on displays and videos, Exploring Human Origins: What Does It Mean to Be Human? invites viewers of all ages to discover the milestones in the evolutionary journey of becoming human.

"We are so excited that our library is one of just six public libraries in the country to be selected to host this unique and fascinating exhibit and accompanying programs," said Allison Grubbs, Director of Broward County Library.
The Exploring Human Origins program series runs alongside Adventure Begins at Your Library, BCL's free Summer Learning Program, offering enlightenment, enrichment and entertainment for all ages.
Exploring Human Origins: Promoting a National Conversation on Human Evolution is administered by ALA's Public Programs Office in collaboration with the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History's (NMNH) Human Origins Program.
