Charlotte Dune is an author, blogger, award-winning filmmaker, and former U.S. Diplomat based in South Florida. She is the author of three novels: Cactus Friends: A Psychedelic Love Story, Mushroom Honeymoon, and Acid Christmas. She also writes a weekly Substack called Charlotte Dune's Lagoon, which delves into current events through a novelist's lens. Her books explore self-discovery, psychedelics, love, healing from trauma, addiction, and exotic locations. She is passionate about travel, reading, nature, and entheogenic practices, and occasionally hosts workshops and events. She also co-hosts a weekly gathering of published authors known as "The Writers' Support Group," with bestselling author Lainey Cameron.
Prior to writing her first novel, Charlotte Dune worked for the U.S. Department of State Foreign Service in Uganda, Cameroon, South Africa, Canada, and Washington D.C. She also directed and produced documentaries, commercials, and music videos. Her documentary films have screened at film festivals in the U.S., Canada, and Europe, and her work has been featured in POV Magazine, The Temper, Now Magazine, Toronto Life Magazine, and in The Huffington Post.
In addition to her creative work, she runs two popular 5-star “Guest Favorite” Airbnbs, including a geodesic artisan dome on a 35-acre private forest.
Dune grew up in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia and holds an MFA in Documentary Media Production, a B.I.S. in Gender Studies and International Relations, and a Diploma in French and Sub-Saharan African Studies.
She currently resides with her partner, daughter, and two dogs in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Please join us for a thought-provoking presentation highlighting local motivational stories designed to connect, engage, and inspire all people. Every Creative Zen event includes a complimentary guided meditation before a short inspiring and thought provoking talk during the second Friday morning of the month. All Creative Zen events are free of charge and open to the community, being creative is not required!
