Juneteenth Celebration:
Honoring History Through the Arts
Wednesday, June 18
1:00pm - 3:30pm
This Juneteenth Celebration invites youth and families to explore the meaning of freedom and expression through the lens of history, culture, and the arts.
Celebrate Juneteenth with a Freedom Celebration that engages youth through music, poetry, and meaningful conversations about freedom and expression. The event features dynamic performances by Portia Dunkley and the New Cannon Chamber Collective, an engaging poetry activity led by Darius Daughtry and the Art Prevails Project, and opportunities to reflect, share, and explore the role of music and art in African American history. The celebration will conclude with sno-cones by Kona Ice and outdoor games for all to enjoy.
Presented in partnership with the Black Violin Foundation (BVF Inc.) and co-sponsored by Broward Center for the Performing Arts. The Broward Center’s Arts for Action: Black Voices initiatives are presented by Baptist Health, JM Family Enterprises Inc. and TD Charitable Foundation.
