About "The Risk It Takes to Bloom: On Life and Liberation":
In The Risk It Takes to Bloom, acclaimed activist Raquel Willis chronicles her journey from her upbringing in Augusta, Georgia, to becoming a nationally recognized advocate for equality. Growing up in a supportive yet traditional family, Raquel worked to understand her identity while navigating the complexities of expectation, belonging, and self-expression.
Her college years and early career brought pivotal moments—finding community, processing profound loss, and stepping fully into her truth. As a journalist during key social justice movements, Raquel used her platform to amplify marginalized voices and speak openly about the challenges facing transgender communities.
From the 2017 Women’s March to leadership roles in national LGBTQ+ organizations, Raquel offers a candid, thoughtful look at what it means to live authentically and stand firm in the face of adversity.

About BLINC: BLINC uplifts and connects BIPOC LGBTQ+ communities through art, advocacy, and access.
