The StoryBook Festival is back in-person for 2022 celebrating mysteries! Did you know that mystery books hold kids' attention and encourage kids to pay close attention and to ask “Why”?
The first 1,000 children arriving to the Festival will receive a free book (presented by Panera Bread). Children are encouraged to come to the Festival in costume and join the Storybook Parade at 1pm (meet us in the auditorium).
Our Festival will include a full day of free programs and activities inside and outside the Library. See scheduled below:
The 2022 featured performers include:
Donna Washington: Author and award-winning storyteller who has been performing for audiences for thirty years! Her amazing vocal pyrotechnics and dynamic physicality make her stories come alive and delight audiences of all ages!
Jimmy C is an award-winning Magician who has entertained all over the world! Jimmy C combines laughter, smiles, & wonderment, creating a magic show for families & children to remember for a lifetime!
Marci Poppins is a whimsical character whose warm and friendly personality causes merriment wherever she goes. Her high energy show of storytelling and magic will keep young and old laughing!
Carnaval de Barranquilla: Enjoy one of Colombia’s most important folkloric celebrations! 12:45 – 1pm: Auditorium – dance celebration; 1-1:15pm: parade - follow the masquerade parade; 1:30-1:45pm: outdoor stage - dance celebration
Janis McDavid: Grammy nominated singer/songwriter will lead children and their loved ones in mindful movement. Ms. Janis uses drums, scarves, parachutes, and more to keep your children engaged.
Swappin' Ground: Listen to stories and tell your own story! Sign up at the Swappin’ Ground and Tell a story & receive a special sticker and certificate!
Pat Nease: Award-winning storyteller known for her high energy, quick wit and wry humor. She's a four-time Florida champion liar, but swears everything she tells is true, except for the parts she makes up.
Windell Campbell combines the art of puppetry with the art of storytelling to create an exhilarating and memorable show. He uses puppets, props, and other visuals to bring fairy tales and folktales to life!
Just The Way it Was - Kric Krac! Haitian Storytelling: Folk Heritage Award recipient, master artist Liliane Louis and her apprentices Ketsia Pharel-Theodore, Marie Moncy and Marie Désir will demonstrate the art of storytelling tandem.
Broward Center Spotlights: Enjoy songs from a vocal ensemble with students taught by a professional music director and choreographer.
City of Pembroke Pines Art & Cultural Center Performance: Enjoy musical selections performed by guitar and piano students.
Fantasy Forest: Fairy tales come alive as you are led on a path through the enchanted forest to meet some of your favorite characters—Sleeping Beauty, Rumpelstiltskin, Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood, and more! Pick up tickets at the Box Office: (while supplies last!) *10am - for morning tours and *12:30pm - for afternoon tours
