Breast Cancer Awareness Month discussion with Dr. Coste, DO of Holy Cross Health!

Presentation will focus on research, facts/myths, and a Q&A featuring Dr. Coste, DO Breast Surgical Oncologist of Holy Cross Health!

Dr. Coste completed her breast surgical oncology fellowship at the University of California Los Angeles, where she trained in providing personalized, evidence-based surgical care for breast cancer, benign breast disease, and high-risk patients. With advanced expertise in techniques such as hidden scar lumpectomies, nipple-sparing mastectomies, nipple delay, aesthetic flat closure, Goldilocks mastectomy and targeted axillary dissection.

She is particularly focused on treating women with pathogenic mutations, triple-negative breast cancer, and oncoplastic surgery for breast conservation.

As a Florida native, Dr. Coste graduated magna cum laude from the University of Central Florida. She continued her education at A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Mesa, AZ where she graduated as a member of the Sigma Sigma Phi honor society. She completed her general surgery training at New York Medical College at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. During her residency, was awarded an NCI/NIH Ruth L. Kirschstein NRSA T32 Research Grant and completed a research fellowship in Surgical Oncology at Montefiore Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY. There she conducted in vivo research with a multi-photon microscope to study the expression of MenaInv and SOX-2 protein in the breast cancer tumor microenvironment.

Dr. Coste believes that continuing education and research are crucial to the improvement of breast care. She has authored several peer-reviewed articles on the tumor micro- environment in breast cancer and has presented on the topic of metastatic breast cancer at several national meetings for her research in breast cancer. She recently published on occult breast cancer and surgical outcomes in patients with triple negative breast cancer treated with immunotherapy and surgeon performed US-guided localization. Her clinical research interests include improving outcomes in underserved populations and those who receive neoadjuvant chemotherapy. She is an active member of various professional organizations and remains committed to advancing breast cancer through research and education. In her free time. Dr. Coste is an avid yogi who loves practicing vinyasa yoga and spending quality time with her family.

Dr Coste is also multi-lingual in English, Creole, French and Spanish.
