The Nuances of Writing and Selling Fiction (Online)
and Nonfiction with Leticia Gomez
Saturday, October 17
2:30pm - 3:30pm
Selling a fiction novel or non-fiction book project to a traditional mainstream publisher requires different approaches.
Whether you are a first-time unpublished author or a seasoned one who has been around the publishing block once, twice or more times, the industry rules and guidelines for writing and placing fiction and nonfiction projects with a traditional book publisher must be adhered to in order to be able to get your feet through the door. In this session, Leticia Gomez will explain in great detail what these established rules and guidelines are. She will also walk attendees through the process of creating and packaging a winning book proposal that will attract a literary agent and the publisher of your dreams. As an added bonus, attendees will be provided with an electronic complimentary book proposal template for their use.
Leticia Gomez is an Editor-at-Large for Dafina Books, an imprint of Kensington Publishing Corp., which focuses on high-quality fiction and non-fiction that centers on race, identity, and its impact on our experiences. She is also the founder and principal agent of Savvy Literary Services, a Texas-based literary agency that specializes in bringing culturally diverse voices to the forefront. She has helped her clients secure deals with the largest publishers in the world and has seen several of her projects successfully optioned for TV and film adaptation.
Leticia is actively seeking to acquire fiction and nonfiction in all genres from mainstream authors as well as stories for marginalized communities with a focus on voices of color.
This workshop is on Zoom and registration is required.
