In a special Juneteenth celebration, join Dr. Terriel Byrd, a renowned expert in religious studies, as he guides the audience through an exploration of the historical and education connections to Juneteenth.
Dr. Byrd will explore the Watch Night tradition symbolizing the hope and anticipation for liberation as well as the struggle for freedoms of education. Attendees will gain insights into the Juneteenth Holiday, its evolution over time, and its enduring relevance in contemporary society.

Dr Terriel Byrd
Dr. Byrd has more than 25 years’ experience as a senior pastor and has served as campus minister at two universities in Ohio. Dr. Byrd served as Professor emeritus, formerly served as the Director of Evening Ministries Program at Palm Beach Atlantic University. He has served as workshop facilitator for the Cultural Sensitivity Seminar in Jacksonville, Florida, and was a member of the strategic planning committee meeting for the African-American church division of the Florida Baptist Convention. He is 2012-2013 president of the African American Caucus of the Academy of Homiletics of North America.
