The History of Henna 

Henna is a plant. Specifically, it’s a small tree or shrub. The leaves contain a dye that stains the skin, like blueberries. Henna has been used for centuries as body decorations. Today, Henna is mainly used in celebration of special occasions such as weddings and birthdays but also it has gained popularity at festival, fairs and other joyful gathering of people. 

• This hands-on workshops teaches young people the history of henna, it’s many uses, cultural traditions and how to apply it to create temporary tattoos. 
• In henna, the dye molecule itself is small enough that it can penetrate several layers of skin.
• That’s why the stains last a couple of weeks. 
• Every student gets a chance to try it and take the leftover home to practice.
