Come celebrate Caribbean Heritage Month at Lauderhill Central Park Library. Come savor the flavors of the Caribbean and move to the beat of Caribbean music (through a dance lesson).
Come celebrate Caribbean Heritage Month at Lauderhill Central Park Library. Come savor the flavors of the Caribbean through food samples kindly donated by the following restaurants: Pollo Tipico of Davie (serving Dominican food samples), La Belle Monique of Plantation (serving Haitian food samples), Charlie's Pastries of Lauderhill (serving samples of assorted Jamaican patties), Bedessee East-West Indian Food (beverages), and Singh's Roti of Lauderdale Lakes (serving Trinidad-Tobago food samples). Move to the beat of Bachata and Merengue music through a dance lesson. Or enjoy the photo display of the Caribbean, sponsored by the Island Space Museum. Librarian Senior Abayomi Manrique will be providing a well informed lecture on Caribbean Literature while the Deja Vu troupe will be providing a one hour cultural performance at the Festival. Author S.R. Taylor will be conducting a story time for children, reading her book Round. Free event that is open to the public. Kids are welcome! Customers can register online on the Broward County Library website because space is limited for cultural programming (Deja Vu, dance lesson, and the Caribbean literature lecture) held inside our Multi-Purpose Room. Registration is not required for food sampling and photo exhibition.
