With Palm Beach Opera’s Story Time Series, young learners are whisked into the pages of some of opera’s greatest stories.
Join Palm Beach Opera’s Teaching Artists for a unique storytime event! Children will sing, act, and follow along with our Teaching Artists.
August 1: W.A. Mozart’s The Magic Flute
Join Tamino and Papageno’s daring rescue of Pamina, the princess who has been captured by the foreboding Sarastro. In this singalong storytelling experience, children learn some of Mozart’s best-loved melodies and find out how opera companies tell stories through singing. This session will include a special costume design activity: children will decorate their own crowns as they step into the roles of princesses, princes, queens, or sorcerers.
August 8: Gary Clement’s The Great Poochini
Join Palm Beach Opera for a reading of The Great Poochini’s story. Meet the character who is the most acclaimed opera singer by night, and a peaceful dog by day. Children will participate in a special craft activity to help The Great Poochini’s audience find their best opera-going outfits to attend the premiere of Dog Giovanni.
Palm Beach Opera’s Story Time Series is part of the Douglas and Delphine Daft Education & Engagement Programs, with additional support from the Palm Beach Opera Guild.
