Please join us for fun playing board games at the library. Each month a librarian will teach a new featured game. A wide variety of other board games will be available to be played as well.
Featured Game Canasta: The popular card game was developed in 1939 and typically features four players in teams of two competing to score the most points. | |
Rummikub: East to learn and fast moving. Rummikub combines luck and strategy and changes quickly, so every player has a chance to win until the very end. Players take turns placing numbered tiles in runs and groups. The object is to be the first to play every tile on your rack. | |
American Mah Jongg: A game where players try to match the tiles on their boards to the patterns on the score card through picking up and discarding tiles. It is a variant of Chinese Mahjong that was invented in 1923 by John Park Babcock, while he was working in Shanghai. The American variant became fully distinct in 1935 when the National Mah Jongg League Inc. published “Official American Rules.” Today it is a very popular game with players and tournaments throughout the U.S. and Canada. | |
