STEM LEGO Dog Sled Build
Celebrate Native American Heritage Month with an exciting LEGO® STEM challenge inspired by Indigenous innovation! 🐾
In this hands-on activity, kids ages 5–11 will learn about the amazing engineering behind dog sleds, used by Arctic and Subarctic Indigenous peoples such as the Inuit and Yupik. Then, they’ll become engineers themselves—designing and building a dog sled using LEGO® Education BricQ Motion kits!
Together, we’ll explore:
How sled dogs use pulling force and friction to glide across snow and ice
The relationship between people and working animals in Native cultures
How Indigenous peoples have always been brilliant innovators using nature and motion to solve real-world problems
🧊 Kids will create their own sled models using string, plates, dogs, and more—no step-by-step instructions, just imagination and creativity!
🌟 Let’s build, learn, and honor traditions through play and STEM!
All materials are provided. Recommended for children ages 5 to 11. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to stay and participate.
