Gallery B, Computer LabMs Tamara Bell will share practical strategies for planning meaningful and well-organized family gatherings.
The 49th annual Burton Family Reunion was held in Ft. Lauderdale on July 25th through 27th, 2025. Held annually since 1976, the location rotates each year to cities and states to gather multiple generations of family. Ms. Tamara Bell, the national Afro American Genealogy and Historical Society (AAHGS) and the Genealogical Society of Broward County (GSBC) member, hosted a virtual family reunion via Zoom in 2022. In keeping the tradition alive even in the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, she served as the 2025 principal hometown organizer. Ms. Bell will share practical strategies for planning meaningful and well-organized family gatherings.
Tamara Bell is a certified Human Resources professional with a master’s degree from Nova Southeastern University and a longstanding interest in genealogical research. She is an active member and former board member of the GSBC, and a member of the national AAHGS. Tam has completed formal genealogy training through the Genealogy Society of Broward County and applies research best practices when helping individuals to begin and organize their family history. She has organized both virtual and in-person family reunions and is the author of “Making Memories Together,” published in Reunions Magazine 2025. She is currently partnering with the African American Research Library and Cultural Center to launch a local AAHGS chapter in Broward County, Florida. This is a significant undertaking as the nearest local chapter meets monthly in Daytona Beach, Florida, which is 3 hours away.
