Juneteenth is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans.
Kisha King currently serves as the Associate Dean for Broward College’s Social and Behavioral Sciences and Human Services department on Central Campus and as a part-time instructor in American history. Kisha holds a Master of Arts in American History, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and has completed her coursework and exams for the doctoral program in American History at Florida International University. Her scholarly area of interest is the history of the African Diaspora. Kisha has also served as professor of record for Broward College’s study abroad program, taking students to Africa and Latin America. Her community activities include supporting a number of causes centered on local youth, and memberships with the South Florida chapter of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History also known as ASALH and Kinad, Inc. Mobile Museum.
