October 3: “To Kill a Mockingbird” (1962), starring Gregory Peck, who won an Academy Award for his performance as Atticus Finch.
October 10: “Of Mice and Men” (1939), starring Burgess Meredith and Lon Chaney, Jr. in this contemporary adaptation of John Steinbeck's classic novel.
October 17: “Catch-22” (1970), based on the Joseph Heller novel that changed the English language, starring Alan Arkin, Jack Gilford, Art Garfunkel, Martin Sheen, and Orson Welles.
