This is a 4 (four) week series open to families that include children ages 2-8 along with their siblings and parents/caregivers. Families are encouraged to attend all four sessions.
The Dania Beach Paul DeMaio Library is hosting a 4 (four) week Family Literacy Night series beginning Thursday, March 5 and continuing on March 12, 19, and 26. All sessions are from 5:30-7:30PM. This program is open to families that include children ages 2-8 along with their siblings and parents/caregivers.
Each session will include an interactive reading experience and reading skills lesson, followed by a hands-on activity for children and parents/caregivers. The literacy sessions will be led by storyteller Carrie Sue Ayvar. Parents/caregivers will learn ways to use new vocabulary and text in discussions to increase reading comprehension and develop a love of reading through shared reading.
Families are highly encouraged to attend all four sessions since the reading skills will build upon each other week by week.
Each family will receive that week’s featured book(s) at the end of each session, as well as an opportunity to win a family game. The books chosen for this program will highlight the themes of friendship, kindness, unity, and inclusion.
Food will be provided by the Friends of the Dania Beach Paul DeMaio Library.
Registration is required.
