This week, join portrait painter and photographer Carl Craig in an intimate studio tour of his exhibition "Trezo Lakay: En Couleurs" in The Storefront, in commemoration of the 2010 natural disaster.
Craig is commemorating the memory of those affected by the catostrophic earthquake in Port-au-Prince on January 12, 2010 by offering a studio tour and discussion of his artwork on view, Goudou-Goudou (2010).
Week of 1/12/2026 - 1/16/2026:

Carl Craig is a notable, self taught Haitian-American portrait painter based in Broward County, and resident artist at The Storefront, Main Library, for January and February 2026.
Craig skillfully captures Haitian history and culture through representational oil paintings and bold, tantalizing colors. Craig has exhibited as national and international art fairs and galleries in Bombay, Mexico, Cayenne, and South Florida. Most recently, Craig collaborated with Haitian historian and scholar, Daniel J.D. Bayard, in creating six historical art paintings for Bayard's six-book series, Triumph to Tragedy.
"I believe that hope lies in the human spirit and, by capturing the balance between delicate facial expressions and body language of my subjects, my message is conveyed."
