In this overview, Mr. Black will discuss a tragic moment in Florida and American history, the Rosewood Massacre of 1923. Mr. Black will include other racially motivated massacres that occurred in Florida's history.
Gregory is a highly decorated Coast Guards Petty Officer Second Class Machinist Mate veteran with over 20 years of active duty service extinguished braver, six Good Conduct medals, special operational devices with silver; gold and bronze stars during his seamanship and aviator legacy in the U.S. Coast Guards. He was born in Miami, Florida, became involve with Youth for Christ and married with children. He graduated from Miami Central High School top 50 in 1976 out of 450 students. He was station on the USCG WMEC Cutter Diligence (616) for over 18 months of sea duty and received the sea service ribbon and “E” device painted on both of his cutter exhaust stacks during Annual Refresher Trainer a score of 97.3%.
Coast Guard Aviation School in Elizabeth City, N. C., Gregory graduated top 10 students in his aviator class. He qualified as a Flight Engineer and Dropmaster; flew missions on the 1980 Cuban Mariel Boatlift, Haitian migrants at sea, 1980 C. G. Cutter Blackthorn disaster rescue, sail through the Bermuda triangle, recovery mission for the 1986 Space Shuttle Challenger disaster; attend many Blue Angle Air shows and work for ValuJet earning Employee of the Month after the 1996 crash. He managed the fixed-wing night maintenance shop, received the Admiral ACE Award and the 1994 Coast Guardsman of the Quarter Award out of the entire Coast Guard. He earned many certifications in Computer Information Technology. Gregory is a certified FAA Airframe and Power Plant (A & P) and have a Degree in B.S. in Professional Aeronautical at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University GPA 3.27, High Achievement 1994 Aviation Excellence Award; Ashford University a Master Degree Specialized in Organizational Leadership with two cords, gold and blue, a GPA 3.82, top 15% class Base affiliated with Golden Key International Honor Society. Gregory is the President of the Rosewood Heritage Foundation Inc. & Treasurer for the Rosewood Family Reunion Inc.
