AARLCC’s mission is to commemorate and celebrate Black history and the history of the African diaspora.
The 59th Presidential Inauguration and Swearing-In ceremony is expected to take place on January 20, 2021 in Washington, D.C. on the West Front of the United States Capitol. Former Vice President Joe Biden will become the 46th President of the United States and on this historic day, Senator Kamala Harris will become the 49th Vice President of the United States. Making history with numerous first such as the first woman to hold the second highest office in our nation as well as being the first Black and Indian American person to rise to this honor, we plan to commemorate this momentous day at the African American Research Library and Cultural Center (AARLCC)! The Inauguration Drive-In Watch Party will be a community celebration hosted on the grounds of AARLCC with a large screen viewing and socially distanced food trucks. From the safety of your car, this is our attempt to celebrate this historic day as a community!
It is important that we come together to honor this historic moment! AARLCC’s mission is to commemorate and celebrate Black history and the history of the African diaspora and we want to mark this event with a community celebration. This day is also historic in relation to HBCU history, Black women’s history, and National Pan-Hellenic Council’s history. So join us in celebrating by decorating your cars, bringing your victory signs, and blowing your car horns in jubilation on this historic day!
