Artists Statement
AdrienneRose Gionta is a multidisciplinary artist exploring the intersections of algorithms, artificial intelligence (AI), and extended reality (XR) through web-based practices, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), video, sound, photography, installation, painting, and drawing. Her work critically examines identity, programmed biases, and cultural assumptions surrounding fatness, beauty standards, embodiment, pleasure, and fulfillment across physical and digital spaces. Rooted in personal history, she honors the remarkable women in her lineage, using art as a vehicle to offer healing and reimagine possibilities that were previously unavailable to them.
Through vibrant, multidimensional realms, Gionta invites viewers to consider the transformative potential of inhabiting avatars within inclusive, techno-spiritual environments. Drawing from AI + human collaboration, pop culture, and science fiction, her work interweaves color, humor, love, and acceptance to reflect on the evolving relationship between technology and the human experience. By challenging traditional narratives and expanding digital possibilities, she encourages us to rethink how we shape and are shaped by our interconnected realities.
