Join us for a conversation and exclusive performance "watch party" with the Bronze Medal winner from the 2020 National Chopin Piano Competition, Parker Van Ostrand.
We will catch up with Parker from his home town of Sacramento California and as one of the youngest of the 2020 competitors, Parker has a brilliant future ahead. We will enjoy an exclusive video recording of his entire recital from the second round of the Chopin Competition. Repertoire includes: Waltz in E-flat Major, Op. 18, Ballade No. 2 in F Major, Op. 38, Scherzo No. 4 in E Major, Op. 54, and Andante spianato et Grande Polonaise brillante, Op. 22
Parker Van Ostrand began studying piano at the age of four. He performed at Carnegie Hall at age five after winning first place in the AADGT competition. Since then he has returned to Carnegie Hall twice and has performed in numerous recitals throughout the United States, Singapore, and Japan. As a competition winner, he has performed with the Merced Symphony, Central Valley Youth Symphony, California Youth Symphony, and the Auburn Symphony, and was invited to perform with the Symphony Parnassus and the Camellia Symphony. In 2017, he won the MTAC Concerto State Finals Competition and in 2018, the Mondavi Center National Young Artists Competition. Last summer, he was invited to tour with the California Youth Symphony, performing in the Baltic and Scandinavian countries. This past summer, he attended the Frost Chopin Piano Festival in Miami on a full scholarship. He also attended the Philadelphia Young Pianists’ Academy, where he won first place in the Philadelphia International Piano Competition. As a winner, he was invited to perform live for the Philadelphia WRTI radio broadcast, and received a full scholarship to return to the festival next summer. In addition to placing 3rd overall at the National Chopin Piano Competition in 2020, Parker received the prize for “Best Sonata” performance.
