The ArtLit 2024 Community Festival is an opportunity to bring the entire community together to celebrate the rich Caribbean cultures of Lauderhill (particularly Jamaica, Trinidad-Tobago, and Haiti).
Broward County Library (BCL) signature event ArtLit 2024 brings the creativity of the Caribbean to impress, entertain and enlighten from 10:30AM to 3PM on Saturday, February 10, 2024, to Lauderhill Central Park Library, 3810 NW 11th Place, Lauderhill, 33311,954-357-7833.
This year marks the seventh anniversary of Artlit, a free, popular community celebration of art and literature for all ages. Artit 2024 explores the Caribbean cultures of Jamaica, Haiti, and Trinidad-Tobago with a playful explosion of live music, art, spoken word and interactive experiences with local businesses, government agencies, crafters and more. There will be food samples, food for sale, giveaways and opportunities to meet local artists and authors.
"ArtLit 2024 is bursting with culture, verve and flair,” says Broward County Library Director Allison Grubbs. "We are very proud of this dynamic community event. It's not to be missed!"
Free festival activities include a board games tent (Ludo, Do Say Dat and Mancala), face painting, henna art, Caribbean-themed virtual reality, dance instruction and photo- op fun with Super Reader and Princess Reads a Lot.
Live entertainment is also free and ranges from a featured, showcase performance of Jamaican culture and literature by the renowned Festival cosponsor/co-producer Louise Bennett-Coverley Heritage Council, readings from featured book Kei Miller's Things I Have Withheld, Haitian-themed storytelling, and the live music of steelpan drums.
