Professional storyteller Windell Campbell fascinates students by weaving character-building lessons into his animated tales of African America folk heroes.
An elementary teacher for over forty years, selected Teacher of the Year for the 1990-1991 school year, Windell Campbell performs at festivals, museums, and reading programs throughout the state. The show incorporates the art of puppetry with the art of storytelling. When the visual world of the puppeteer unites with the auditory realm of the storyteller, a unique partnership evolves. In this relationship an equality of art forms in which the story and the puppet share the limelight.
Windell Campbell taught school for 41 years and was selected as Teacher of the Year. As a storyteller, he has performed at hundreds of summer reading program events and at storytelling festivals throughout Florida and Georgia, as well as been featured at prestigious conferences and events in Florida. He also appeared at the Exchange Place at the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough Tennessee in 2001, trained as a Prime Time Storyteller for the Florida Humanities Council in 2009 and Featured Storyteller at the 2017 Florida Storytelling Festival. His storytelling shows reach both children and adults with their memorable tales, including the expert use of puppets.
