Join us in sharing stories from African Kings and Queens to modern African American Heroes-Harriet Tubman, George Washington Carver, and Mae Jemison.
This is a two-part summer Storytime series as we learn about the great heritage of African and African American history. In June, we are going to Ancient Egypt and Ethiopia to learn about the stories of Hatshepsut female pharaoh, the Queen of Sheba, and Aesop’s timeless fables. In a fun and creative way, children will hear about the wisdom and achievements of these ancient cultures through storytelling, as well as participate in related crafts and activities. In July, we’ll follow the inspiring journeys of modern heroes like Harriet Tubman, George Washington Carver, and Mae Jemison. We will connect their stories to the rich traditions of ancient storytelling and innovation, showing how the past influences the present. Each session is packed with fun and educational activities, crafts, and storytelling that will help young learners be inspired to work towards their own dreams and potential.
