Book banning is censorship that violates our right to read. Join us along with author Bonné Bartron as we discus protecting this freedom promotes knowledge, education, and intellectual growth.
Recent policies and legislation across the United States have made the reading and teaching of banned books more difficult for classrooms and libraries. In 2021, the American Library Association reported 729 attempts to censor library resources, targeting 1,597 books, the highest amount of attempted book bans in more than 20 years.
A storyteller by trade, Bartron regularly crafts and directs stories for film and TV, but the freedom she’s discovered in publishing novels has ignited a new passion. From a young age Bartron spun narratives to comfort and entertain her sister as they moved all over the world with their Green Beret father, mother and furry family members. She was enthralled with the legends of the locals she met and the places she visited. More than anything, she learned that stories have the power to create common experiences even among very different people.
