Teens are invited to use different art mediums to explore who they are, guided by artist and educator Dr. Kimme Harris.
The objective of this program is to help teens explore who they are, develop their voices, and see the power in their own stories—all through the lens of art and storytelling. While participants are not required to attend every session, it is strongly encouraged in order to fully benefit from the program.

Dr. Kim D. Harris, Ed.D., is an educator, multidisciplinary artist, certified yoga instructor, storyteller, author, and the Artistic Director of The Creative You, a creative hub that strives to build capacity for community by targeting promising youths who thrive to survive in at-risk situations. She provides art outreach initiatives like Playing with Paint, Painting with Fabric, Urban Theatre (Black History: A Play After the Fact), Kwanzaa Salons, and 1-2-3 Go Yoga ~ Playing with Trust ~ Obstacle Course.
As a lifelong learner Dr. Kimme is on a journey to plant seeds in others to be change agents for the 21st century and beyond via the arts. As an author of children’s storybooks (The Colors of Kwanzaa and This is a Story), Dr. Kimme is passionate about her mission and vision to connect with like-minded people who support and honor cultural sustainability.
The Creative You is a grassroots initiative that was birthed by Dr. Kim D. Harris in 2014. This initiative promotes cultural sustainability and heritage preservation through all phases of the arts via African and Indigenous concepts and perspectives. The mission and vision of The Creative You is for all people to tap into the creativity that is inside of them. Dr. Kim believes, “when people are placed in the right environment, given the right materials, engage with the right discussions, filled with the right inspiration and motivation they can create pieces that rightfully reflect who they are culturally and spiritually.”
