The first Jewish family in Fort Lauderdale, Mack and Sadye Katz, moved to the area in 1924 from New York. Among their many accomplishments was to establish the first synagogue in Broward County, Temple Emanu-El. Sponsored by the Friends of The Century Plaza Library.
