Imagine that you have a spreadsheet containing every data point about your customers — their preferences, their web browsing behavior, the products they’ve bought.

What would you do with all that information? When you know SQL fundamentals, you can slice and dice that data any way you want, providing critical insights that drive business strategy.

SQL provides powerful-yet-simple tools for data analysis and handling. This SQL bootcamp will take absolute beginners through the basics to an ability to write queries with confidence. Get hands-on experience navigating a SQL server and distilling insights from real-world data. You’ll leave able to use this tool on your own data immediately.

General Assembly’s classes, workshops & events are for recreational purposes and are not regulated by the bureau of proprietary school supervision.

If this class is recorded, students will be sent the recording link within 7 days after class completion by email. Students are encouraged to download and save any shared materials (worksheets, deck if applicable) during class for later reference as they are not be shared by email.

Preparation

• A computer and a strong internet connection to maximize your learning experience. We will provide login information and a link to the platform on the day of this SQL bootcamp.
• A willingness to learn and a determination to push through the natural frustration of confronting new concepts.
• The pgAdmin that’s compatible with your operating system (download it here). In addition, watch this Introduction to SQL video before your session.
• You will need access to a laptop or computer with a working webcam and microphone as well as a strong internet connection.
• This class will occur completely online using Zoom.
• Class setup information will be emailed to all students signed up around 24 hours before (and again an hour before) your class launches.
• Each individual class participant must have purchased a ticket.

Vaughn is a Brooklyn born, father of two, serial entrepreneur who is currently on a mission to organize the world's sports data. Before launching his sports data platform Ballstar, Vaughn served as associate director of Alumni affairs for Prep for Prep and later as an Alum Trustee. Using data to build community, make connections, and to better focus fundraising efforts Vaughn is most proud of the work he has done to nurture niche communities of Alums like those in the arts and tech communities. Now Vaughn uses data to bring together the global Basketball community.
