Make yourself at home with this selection of materials from the Bienes Museum of the Modern Book and the African American Research Library and Cultural Center Special Collections.
Every house tells a story. These miniature domiciles, handmade in the 1930s by American artists under President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Works Progress Administration (WPA) Museum Extension Project (MEP), were originally created as visual aids for schoolchildren. Each object represents its own special people, culture, and history.
