We can help you with your genealogical research. Members of the Genealogical Society of Broward County (GSBC) will be on-site to assist you, answer your questions, and help you navigate the many tools available for uncovering your family’s story. It’s a welcoming space to share tips, troubleshoot challenges, and learn how to make the most of online and in library resources. During the Open Lab, you can:
Search the Genealogy Collection through NovaCat and check out physical materials on the 4th floor.
Access NSU databases that support genealogical research.
Sign up for a free NSU Alvin Sherman Library Card—available to anyone who lives, works, or studies in Broward County. Choose a physical card or an e Card.
GSBC Monthly Program - Your Ancestors: What is their Story?
Featured Speaker

Gary Green is a native of West Palm Beach, Florida, where he was born and raised. He and his wife, Fran, have been married for 50 years and are the proud parents of two children and grandparents to six.
A lifelong enthusiast of family history, Gary began a dedicated exploration of his genealogy in 2010. One of his earliest discoveries was that Fran’s ancestry traces back to the Mayflower through passenger Isaac Allerton. He later uncovered that his own maternal line includes an ancestor who served in the Revolutionary War—an exciting connection that further fueled his passion for research.
Over the past 15 years, Gary has been an active member of the Genealogical Society of Palm Beach County, where he currently serves as Vice President. He is also a member of the Palm Beach Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, in which he has held the roles of Secretary, Vice President, and President. Gary remains deeply involved in both organizations and is a proud supporter of his wife’s participation in the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Daughters of Founders and Patriots, and The Mayflower Society.
As a membership benefit, we are pleased to inform you that this genealogical event will be recorded and made available exclusively to members of GSBC. Additionally, any handout will be uploaded to our website for members to access.
